In 1894, The City of Tyler constructed an earthen dam across Indian Creek. It formed Lake Bellwood, becoming a water reservoir for the city until 1950.

Due to the special processes used to create the hydraulic-fll dam, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic structure.

This beautiful spring-fed lake provides residents with world-class boating, swimming and fshing with largemouth bass and bluegill.

Perched along its shores is The Lake and Beach Club at The Cascades. A casual gathering spot in a beautiful setting, you can relax and enjoy lunch on the white sand beach, swim in the sparkling lakefront pool or hit the fitness facility.

The Lake and Beach Club also serves as the gateway to Lake Bellwood with a gazebo pier, a boardwalk, a fire pit and a private boathouse featuring club canoes and motorboats.

The European tradition of riding meets the old Wild West at the planned Equestrian Center.

It has been planned on the west side of the Cascades on beautiful, unspoiled acreage with 100-year-old trees. Whether you stable your horses at the Center or borrow one of several available for a daily fee to the residents, there are several miles of hilly riding trails and tree canopies for a relaxing walk, trot or gallop.

The stables offer spacious stalls and all the accommodations to provide the best possible care for the horses. Local instructors and horsemen will be on hand to attend to your every need and those of the horses, too. Riding rings are available for all abilities
of horse – and rider – to practice to perfection.

Tyler

Historic Tyler offers a thriving shopping, business and entertainment district including Broadway Square Mall with its many specialty shops and major department stores.

The world-famous Rose City Complex is only a few minutes away and is home to both the Tyler Civic Theatre Center, with its unique theatre-in-the-round experience, and the Harvey Convention Center.

Tyler is also home to the nation’s largest rose garden. The 14 beautifully maintained acres of the Rose Museum and Gardens put on an unparalleled display of color with more than 38,000 rose bushes in 500 different varieties, and just a few minutes away is the Bergfeld Park Amphitheater.

In mid-July, Tyler and The Cascades play host to the Texas State Open Golf Championship, and September explodes with activity when the East Texas State Fair comes to town.

Tyler supplements the activities offered at The Villas at the Cascades with lakes Tyler and Palestine joining Lake Bellwood to offer even more fishing, boating and water recreation opportunities. And while you’re mastering your golf skills on The Cascades course you can test them on any of Tyler’s other golf courses including Hollytree, Willowbrook and Eagle’s Bluff

Tyler also has five public courses to choose from, and was named “The Top Golf City In The State Of Texas” by GOLF DIGEST magazine.

Education in Tyler is second to none with the All Saints Episcopal School conveniently located at the entrance to The Cascades. This K-12 learning facility has an excellent reputation, and is one of the highest rated private schools in Texas. Robert S. Bradford, Ph.D., a science professor at All Saints, designed The Cascades Center for Environmental Education, a 10-mile trail system and preserve that will educate residents on the wildlife and natural wonders of our unique community.

The inspiration for The Villas at the Cascades is nature itself.

Adjacent to one of Texas’ most picturesque landscapes, the spectacular Cascades Golf Course, and historic, spring-fed Lake Bellwood, this beautiful neighborhood is designed to thrive within its environment.

Each home is designed in concert with nature by conserving energy with additional weather-stripping, solar screens, reflective Tech Shield sheathing in the attic, insulation and dual pane low-E windows.

Air conditioners are 13 SEER, with programmable thermostats which use 30% less energy than the current industry standard.

Even concrete streets were poured, to reduce the use of oil-based products such as asphalt.

Our standards are well above those of the industry, to ensure comfort in extreme weather conditions.

Respect for our environment and energy conservation are two of our toppriorities. The goal is to conserve our natural resources, and to achieve that goal we have ensured continuous community efforts, including a well-trained staff and recycling programs.
